Dennis Doyle is a Celtic harpist, singer and storyteller.
His delightful program of traditional Irish harp music, stories, songs, bits of history and jokes have been performed all over North America, Japan and Ireland. Teachers and musicians run in his family which originally hails from County Wicklow.
His published material includes 10 recordings, 2 books and contributions to several other artist’s recordings. His television work includes performances on the old series Murder, She Wrote, and research and artwork material for programs on the History Channel. Over the years, he has served as the opening act for Clannad, the Dixie Chicks, and DeDannan. He has worked in Southern California with the band Innisfree, a band he helped form over 25 years ago with his wife, brother and friends.
He is a graduate of St.John’s College (Philosophy/English) and holds an MA degree in Education from California State University, Los Angeles. Currently a tenured college professor, Dennis teaches at Glendale Community College in Southern California lecturing in English, Humanities and Irish History & Literature.
He’s brought his harp music, stories and songs in Gaelic and in English to feasts and festivals, wakes and weddings. In addition, he has presented concerts, programs, and weekends on Celtic Spirituality throughout the USA, working with folklorist Padraigin Clancy since 2002. He also plays keyboards, and mandolin.
